Potions Log
10:19am January 28th

When adding Gillyweed to a levitating potion two steps before the buzzlesnort, as opposed to one stir after, the affects are increased twofold due to the pondscum activating the enzymes more rapidly. Would inform Potions Professor, only sharing genius with fools is a waste of precious breath. Speaking of fools, have discovered not everybody hates the snow. Students were congregating in order to... 'play' (see: perform ape-like impressions of the genetic offshoot Homo neanderthalis, lobbing snow in leu of their own faeces at one another).

No, Lily, water particles cooled to below freezing are not romantic - they are cold, wet, and uncomfortable, make growing ingredients supremely difficult, and travelling anywhere outside almost unbearable.

Due to an unfortunately scheduled Herbology lesson before lunch, will endeavour to have a headache - will willingly spend time in Black's company to do so. Have heard talk of piratical behaviour, and will attempt to avoid at all costs. It can come to no good.

 Potions Log. January 3rd. 11:28pm.

No findings to report on to date - Experiments on hiatus due to traditional muggle holiday.

Am quite certain Lily's mother poses a more terrifying figure than any other I've crossed - she did not take kindly to finding me in her kitchen. Could perhaps have warned her of Lily's performance in potions, and suggested she throw us both out, but the solitude was one much coveted - and Lily would have eviscerated me with that... biro, she called it.

I shall detail nothing of Petunia, given my audience, but suffice to say we are beyond insults and petty tricks. True hatred simmers slowly to the surface on both sides.

Though the silence, and lack of the blithering four is bordering on pleasant, returning to the dungeons will not go unappreciated. This house is so... sunny.

Potions Log
December 6th 11:45am

Am currently located in the Great Hall - already the festivities have begun. Have begun work on charm to ward off the unwanted attentions of overzealous Christmas decorations. Mistletoe included. The Incident with that weed last Christmas shall not be repeated. I blame it solely on that meddling fool, Dumbledore.

I am, perhaps for the first time in six years, unsure of my Christmas plans. Would that it were so easy as to stay at Hogwarts - alas. The Marauding Morons will be cloistered within these stone walls, and imprisonment with such a force of mayhem without the buffering effect of the student body sounds less-than tolerable. Not even Lily will be here to alleviate the sheer boredom that is the holiday season - she is going home to Spinners End. Yet, were I to join her, I would be cast aside by both her family and my own. Tis the season, after all.

Potions Log
November 17th 5:15am

Have been testing Slughorn's Dreamless Sleep Potion to ascertain changes from original recipe. He has been selling it as an 'improved formula' to Agnes's Apothecary - thus far tests are negative for all foreign substances but coffee grounds - the colour change is significant, but the effects remain the same. After trialing the potion on myself last night, I must conclude that he has not yet been able to allow the mind to drop into REM sleep whilst using the potion - thus dreaming stops, but the rest gained is only marginally better than without the potion. Am beginning to suspect him of misleading advertising.

It was, perhaps, a mistake to test the potion last night - the Gryffindor Miscreants are likely to be particularly moronic today, no matter the outcome of the match, and that overwhelming desire to be turned inside out and dipped in cream cheese I had last week has since passed.
